Our actions are driven by our values. If we believe that something is important or beneficial or if it will bring us pleasure or profit, then we will do it. The things we value becomes our priorities. Our priorities determine how we spend our time.
How do you spend your time? Doing things that are beneficial, like working out, eating right, studying your Bible or attending church? Doing things that bring you pleasure like sports, Netflixxing, or shopping? Doing things that bring you financial gain?
We often neglect one of the most important things we can do and that we should value most. It is beneficial and brings us pleasure and profit. What is it? Prayer.
Jesus set the example for us. He made prayer a priority. He prayed privately, he prayed publicly. He prayed for healing, for strength, for power. He prayed that His Father’s will would be done. He prayed for you and He prayed for me. He valued prayer so He practiced prayer.
At BBC, we value and practice prayer. We still begin each class and gathering with prayer. We still pray in Chapel and in the dorms. Our students have even taken it a step further and have formed student led prayer groups, small group Bible studies, and “Devo in the Gazebo”. They are making prayer a priority.
Would you pray for us? Here are three simple things you could bring before God:
- More students. More students now means more people in the ministry later, reaching more people for Christ.
- Finances. Every single gift to BBC helps us to educate and to provide an environment that enhances learning.
- God’s presence. This past college year was blessed with God’s presence in a powerful way. Students displayed the love and compassion that only comes from a heart of devotion and obedience to God.
Thank you for giving your time to pray for us. Your prayers bless us, encourage us, and enable us to do what God has called us to do.
