Springfield, MO – Despite the chill of January, Mission University students braved the cold and returned to campus to begin the 2025 Spring Semester on Wednesday, January 8. With strong student retention and the addition of several new students, the semester is off to a promising start.
Office Relocations Enhance Campus Operations
One of the most significant developments this semester is the relocation of several key offices. The President and administration have moved to the “Main Administration Building,” previously the BBFI Mission building. This updated space now also houses the financial offices and admissions department.
Additionally, the Academic Dean and Registrar have transitioned to new offices, while the Student Life team has relocated to a recently renovated and modernized space previously occupied by admissions. These changes reflect Mission University’s ongoing commitment to improving efficiency and creating a more cohesive campus environment.
Celebrating 75 Years During Fellowship Week
Preparations for the highly anticipated Fellowship Week are already underway. This year’s event, set for April 28-May 1, marks the 75th Anniversary of the Baptist Bible Fellowship and Mission University and promises to be a time of reflection and vision casting for the future.
The week starts on Monday, April 28, with a banquet celebrating the Fellowship and the university’s rich history. The evening will feature singers, testimonies, and stories from the past, providing a meaningful start to the week’s activities.
The speaker lineup for Fellowship Week is particularly notable:
- Tuesday Night: Dr. O.S. Hawkins, author of a recent book on J. Frank Norris, will share insights connecting the BBFI’s past and future.
- Wednesday Night: Greg Stier, a renowned youth evangelist with independent Baptist roots, will inspire attendees with his focus on sharing faith and reaching the lost.
- Thursday Night: Kent Jesalva, pastor from Cebu City, Philippines, will bring an international perspective. Jesalva’s church, founded by the late Bob Hughes and later led by his father, Army Jesalva, highlights the BBFI’s global impact.
The week concludes with Commencement on Friday, where Rick Blue, retired pastor from Greenville, Texas, will deliver the keynote address. Blue has been a long-time supporter of Mission University and is expected to offer both encouragement and wisdom to the graduating class.
Looking Ahead
As the semester unfolds, students and staff alike are ready to tackle the challenges of academics, athletics, and ever-changing weather. From basketball and baseball games to tests and finals, the spring promises to be an engaging and fast-paced season.
Mission University invites friends, alumni, and supporters to join in the celebration of Fellowship Week. Banquet and event registration is now open at Mission.edu.
I’m looking forward to celebrating both the Baptist Bible Fellowship and Mission University and both how the Lord has used them and still will in the future.
