Mission University Hosts Inaugural Alumni Cares Event

Springfield, MO – From July 23 to 27, 2024, alumni from across the country converged on the campus of Mission University for the first-ever Alumni Cares event. Spearheaded by Nate Harmon, pastor of Louisville Baptist Temple in Louisville, OH, this multi-day project aimed to prepare the campus for the upcoming academic year.

The initiative, named Alumni Cares, draws inspiration from the student-led BBC Cares events of recent years. These events, which have included activities such as hurricane clean-up and assisting new church plants, have provided BBC students with opportunities to serve churches nationwide. The Alumni Cares event extended this spirit of service to former students and their congregations, inviting them back to campus for a week of service.

Pastor Harmon remarked, “I think about all the alumni, friends, and churches that were involved. Many traveled to serve on campus and others gave to ensure the resources were available to complete the many projects. This year’s projects included cleaning and painting every light pole on campus, improvements to the gym and cafeteria, landscaping across the campus, and thorough cleaning of two dorms, Vick and Donnelson. This is the first of what we hope will become an annual event.”

Mission University president, Mark Milioni, expressed his gratitude, stating, “We were able to knock out some big projects that we could not have completed without this event. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

Move-in Day for Mission University is scheduled for Thursday, August 8, 2024, with the opening chapel set for Tuesday, August 13, 2024. All are invited to attend.
