Apart from his wife and family, the number one asset to the church planter is his pulpit. There are three subjects that must be mastered in regards to the pastor’s presentation of the sermon. Without question, the growth of the newly planted church is determined by the power, presence and presentation of the pastor while in the pulpit. If he is to be effective in producing growth numerically and spiritually within the church, he must master these three pulpit distinctives.
Declaring Scripture:
(Homiletics) The Art of Preaching is the skill of proclaiming the message in a manner that produces decision and action. Preaching is more than making three points, a story and a poem memorable. Rather, the purpose of preaching should be to make scripture memorable. Preaching is the planting of
the scripture in the heart of the listener, and having that scripture challenge and change that person.
Defending Scripture:
(Apologetics) The Art of a formal Defense of Scripture is being able to develop justification for your theology. Defending the theme and scripture of each message is a major challenge that every church planter must prepare for.
Discerning Scripture:
(Hermeneutics) Proper interpretation becomes critical when expanding scripture. Developing the text and context with the proper exegesis is essential when producing proper interpretation. When it comes to power, clarity is the secret.
