Louisiana Baptist University (LBU) and the Board of Trustees are pleased to announce the selection of Gregory S. Lyons as the next president of LBU. In step with the founding vision of Jimmy Tharpe and following 30 years of passionate leadership in global ministry outreach by now Chancellor Neal Weaver, the Board of Trustees is confident that the multinational ministry of Lyons has both the vision and leadership skills to move the University on to a greater plane of global Gospel outreach.
At a special called meeting on August 8, 2022, the Board of Trustees voted in favor of Lyons’ selection. Following a period of transition, Lyons will assume full control in January 2023. The University is poised to become a pillar of strength, inviting American students to a fresh engagement in the Gospel and a greater connection to their counterparts worldwide. Lyons will continue to serve in his role as a missionary church planter leading Global Surge while bringing leadership to LBU.
