LBU Hosts 2nd Annual Publisher Award Banquet to Honor Accomplished Christian Authors

SHREVEPORT, LA — The 2nd Annual LBU Publisher Award Banquet was held on December 10, 2024, on the campus of Louisiana Baptist University. The evening celebrated four distinguished Christian authors for their outstanding contributions to Christian literature: Gene Getz, Clara Molina, James Adams, and Bob Cornuke.

Each year, the ceremony focuses on recognizing two English-language authors and two Spanish-language authors, reflecting LBU’s commitment to honoring global voices in Christian writing.

  • Gene Getz, a respected pastor and prolific author, was honored for his timeless book The Measure of a Man, which continues to inspire Christian men to grow in biblical character and integrity. Getz has authored over 60 books, influencing generations of readers.
  • Bob Cornuke, often called a “modern-day Indiana Jones,” is recognized for his adventurous and faith-based writings, including In Search of the Ark of the Covenant, which blends biblical history and archaeological discovery.
  • Clara Molina, a leading voice in Spanish-language Christian literature, is known for her books A Legacy of Wisdom and Oh No! I Married the Pastor, encouraging women to embrace faith and leadership in their spiritual journeys.
  • James Adams, an English-and Spanish-language theologian and writer, has made his mark writing guides to living out biblical principles in today’s culture.

Each recipient took time after receiving their awards to reflect on the importance of Christian writers. Their remarks underscored the enduring power of written words to inspire faith, encourage believers, and spread biblical truth worldwide.

LBU President Greg Lyons quoted Benjamin Franklin, saying, “Either write something worth doing or do something worth writing.” Lyons affirmed LBU’s mission, stating, “Our goal is to do both.”

Walt Swaim, LBU’s Academic Dean, echoed the sentiment, adding, “It is great to have so many accomplished authors on our campus. It inspires each of us to consider the discipline of putting our thoughts on paper to share with others.”

LBU has already announced plans to host the 3rd Annual Publisher Award Banquet in December 2025, continuing its tradition of celebrating influential voices in Christian literature.
