Friendship Baptist of Owasso, OK, pastored Linzy Slayden, spent an entire weekend celebrating its 30th anniversary. The church hosted the Owasso Gospel Opry on Saturday, April 2, 2002, with concerts by two award-winning groups, Faith’s Journey and The Martins.
Sunday, April 3, was a full day of celebration, beginning with the morning worship service. The service started with the Pride of Owasso High School Drum Line, showcasing the church’s commitment to the local community. Owasso Mayor, Bill Bush, read a proclamation declaring April 3, 2022, as Friendship Baptist Church Day in Owasso. He also presented the church with the 2021 Impact Award for its work in the community. Southern Gospel trio, The Martins, provided special music for the day. Illusionist and ventriloquist couple, Jared and Meghan Hall, provided entertainment and a spiritual challenge to the children. Slayden’s sermon focused on the 12 stones of Joshua 4. Following the service, each family was given a stone they could sign and place by the 12 Stone Memorial in front of the church. The church reserved the Oklahoma Aquarium as a special event for church members and their friends on Sunday night. Jared and Meghan Hall entertained there as well.
Slayden shared, “We have watched in awe and excitement as the Lord blessed our efforts over the last 30 years, and we are confident He will continue to bless as we walk in faith and send the soul-saving, life-changing Gospel of Christ across the street and around the world.”
