The Spring Candidate School was filled with a great group of guys excited about serving God. One of the young men involved was Chris Housewright, a student pastor at Eastside Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas. Chris has surrendered to the call of God to plant a church in New Orleans, Louisiana. To my knowledge and visiting with other pastors in Louisiana, there has never been a successful church plant in the greater New Orleans area. What an opportunity we have to join hands with Chris in seeing the very first successful BBFI church plant in this great city.
Mike Landry of Bethel Baptist Church, Jennings, Louisiana, says “New Orleans is the greatest mission field in the U.S.”
Chris will be approved as a BBFI church planter in the September National Meeting at Sauk Trail Baptist Temple in Richton Park, Illinois. He will lay out his strategy and timeline at that time. Please be much in prayer for Chris Housewright and his family as they step out in faith to follow the leadership of the Lord.
Let me introduce another church planter, Victor Baxter, going to Eastman, Georgia. Victor attended our Spring School and is moving to Eastman in late May or early June. God has already begun to open doors, a place has been secured for them to begin meeting, and some families have already committed to get involved in this new work. Pray for Victor and his family as they move to Eastman. Paul said “A great door and effectual is open unto me and there are many adversaries.” There always are many adversaries but prayer can overcome every ene¬my. Victor will be approved as a BBFI church planter in September as well.
These are just two of the young men starting new churches. What an exciting time to be involved in the work of the NCPO. Pray for us and all the new church plants of our Fellowship.
