On October 18, 2024, Chaplain David Sisco achieved a significant milestone in his distinguished military career as he was officially promoted to the rank of Major in a ceremony held at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. The event marked not only a professional advancement but also a celebration of Chaplain Sisco’s unwavering dedication to serving God, soldiers, and families through the U.S. Army Chaplaincy.
The promotion ceremony was attended by family, friends, and fellow soldiers who gathered to honor Major Sisco’s achievements and his commitment to the Army Chaplain Corps’ core values: Nurture the Living, Care for the Wounded, and Honor the Fallen.
Chaplain Sisco’s wife, Becky Sisco, shared heartfelt words reflecting their family’s pride and gratitude:
“We are so proud of our soldier. I am so grateful for God’s call on our lives in Army Chaplaincy. We were blessed to have all the kids (DJ, Abby and Chris, Jonathan, and Faith) home to celebrate with us, as well as our BBFI endorser, Steve Bender, and David’s best friend, Dwayne.”
The Sisco family’s faith community has played an integral role in their journey. Pastor Kevin Carson, Chaplain Sisco’s sending pastor, expressed his joy:
“It was a blessing to congratulate Major David Sisco on his recent promotion. We are so thankful for his chaplaincy ministry to the U.S. Army.”
Similarly, Steve Bender, Chaplain Sisco’s military chaplaincy endorser, was privileged to participate in the ceremony, noting:
“Congratulations, Chaplain, as you represent the Lord Jesus Christ while ministering to the men and women serving in the U.S. Army.”
Chaplain Sisco’s promotion comes alongside a new chapter in his military career. He recently transitioned from serving as the Battalion Chaplain for the 5th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, to his new role as Brigade Chaplain at the 2nd Recruiting Brigade, U.S. Army Recruiting Command in Huntsville, Alabama.
This change reflects not only his professional growth but also his ongoing mission to bring spiritual guidance and support to soldiers and their families across the Army.
Major David Sisco’s journey in ministry is rooted in strong academic foundations and unwavering faith. He earned a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Mission University in Springfield, Missouri, equipping him to serve effectively in his role as a chaplain.
As Major Sisco embarks on this new phase of service, his family, friends, and faith communities remain a steadfast source of encouragement and support. This promotion not only recognizes his leadership and dedication but also underscores the vital role of Army chaplains in supporting the spiritual well-being of soldiers.
