The BBFI winter meeting was held February 10-13 at Crosspointe Church in Anaheim, CA. Brian Moore, who also serves as the BBFI treasurer, and the church did an outstanding of job hosting this national meeting. This was the first BBFI national meeting held in California since 2013. The format changed slightly and there were plenty of “extras.”
There were four general sessions, Monday night, Tuesday morning, Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, featuring Doug Fields, Tim Adrian, Linzy Slayden, and Randy Harp. Tuesday and Wednesday morning included intensives focused on church planting featuring speakers Ben Schenck, Josh Adams, Doug Dameron, Aaron Cavin, Jarel Bland, Ron Taylor, Wes Beachum, Chris Highfill, Keith Harrington and Sean Sears; church revitalization featuring speakers Dustin Janney, Eddie Lyons, Jon Slayden, Mike Haley, Mark Milioni, Ray Rhoton, Tyler Green, Jason Petermann, Ed Trinkle, Dan Woodcock, Jon Haley, John Kerns, Scoot McCoy and Brian Moore; youth ministry featuring speakers Craig Stevenson, Tom King, Nick Olsen, Jarrod Bevan, Robert White, Rob Rosenbalm, Tom King, Marc Corona, and Jason Harmeyer; church staff featuring speakers Tom Demers, Scott Anderson, Tiffany Lyons, Lance Harrington, Chaneika Aunjalique, Chris Ducas, Joel Byers, Nathan Boschen, Doug Connelly and Eddie Harrison; women in ministry featuring speakers Coco Lyons, Cindy Lyons, Karen Baird, Kristi Rhoton, Susan Taylor, Chaneika Aunjalique, Danielle Elkins, Tiffany Lyons, Gale Ledbetter, Carla Slayden and Shannon Moore; and an intensive on how to stream your church services.
One added feature to this national meeting was an exclusive private screening of the movie Breakthroughcoming to theaters April 17. Jason Noble, pastor of the family the movie is based on, was in attendance and participated in a Q&A afterward. A second added feature was a one-day mission trip to a MANNA Feeding Center in Tijuana, Mexico. Jon Haley, BBFI 2ndVice-President, writes on that experience below. A third added feature was a “Bonus Session” on Thursday morning with best-selling author and pastor of North Coast Church in Vista, CA, Larry Osborne. A fourth added feature was a church planting “shark tank” that took place Tuesday afternoon. All church planters connected to the BBFI were given five minutes to present their vision to a panel of experienced church planting pastors. Over $31,000 was raised to be given to these church planters. Each church planter participating received a $1,000 gift. Three were recognized and given a larger gift: Ulisses Longoria, pastor of Eben-Ezer Iglesia Bautista in Denton, TX received $10,000, Ben Schenk, pastor of Awaken Church in Round Rock, TX received $5,000 and Justin Brownlee, pastor of Anchor Church in Maitland, FL received $3,000.
As is the custom, there is was no business meeting or official business take place. The Executive Committee and State Representatives met Monday morning through the afternoon to hear updates from the BBFI entities and pray for the Fellowship.
