Ames, IA – From October 28–30, 2024, the BBFI Executive Committee, along with Randy Harp, director of the BBFI Central Office, convened at Heartland Baptist Church in Ames, IA, for a focused session of prayer, planning, and Fellowship business.
The agenda featured strategic planning through the core questions: Where have we been? Where are we now? Where is God leading us? How do we get there? Each vice president outlined specific goals for their area of oversight within the Fellowship over the coming two years.
Significant time was dedicated to revisiting the BBFI Constitution and Bylaws, ensuring compliance with legal standards and integrating recent decisions—such as granting missionaries voting rights in Fellowship matters. The group further developed strategies for the BBFI Central Office and defined job descriptions and expectations for all elected positions.
Plans were also begun for the upcoming spring Healthy Church Conference and two national meetings in 2025, which will mark the 75th anniversary of the BBFI.
The committee enjoyed fellowship outside of formal sessions, gathering at Randy Abell’s home for dessert and watching the World Series.
BBFI President Jon Haley commented, “Each and every opportunity I have to spend time with the men who serve on the Executive Team I walk away excited, encouraged, and inspired. The BBFI is blessed to have these men serving on the board and I am humbled to be a part of the team.”
Host pastor Randy Abell shared, “It was an honor for Heartland Baptist Church to host the BBFI Executive Committee. I loved that our staff could connect with these great leaders.”
