On April 4-5, 2022, the Texas BBFI held their state Fellowship Meeting in Denton, TX. There is nothing unusual about that. One of the first meetings following the Texas Hotel meeting in 1950 was in Denton, TX. A church planter hosted the meeting. Again, nothing new about that, as fall meeting 2021 was hosted by a church planter. The Texas BBF met in a church with a primary language other than English for the first time.
Ulises Longoria and Eben-Ezer Iglesia was the host for the spring meeting of the Texas BBFI. Longoria is an approved BBFI church planter sent out of Midway Church of Aubrey, TX, pastored by John Theissen. The theme of the meeting was “Striving Together for the Gospel.” Speakers were John Theissen, Midway Church, speaking on the topic of “Striving for the Gospel,” Mike Spencer, Denton Bible Church, speaking on the topic of “Worthy of the Gospel,” and Robby Pollard, Village Park Church, speaking on the topic of “Standing Firm for the Gospel.”
Longoria stated of the meeting, “God moved in powerful ways. We sang in English and Spanish, enjoyed great food, including homemade tamales, laughed, cried, heard from the Word, and prayed for God to bring revival to our cities. We even had another first for the TXBBFI … a mariachi band.” He added, “I am very proud of my church, Eben-Ezer Iglesia. They worked very hard to make this possible, and in the end, everything was great. It was wonderful to see how we can worship and work together regardless of color, culture, language, or nationality.
